Assignments
Throughout the school
year the first graders will be given appropriate homework
assignments to reinforce daily skills and to foster parent
involvement. These skills include but are not limited to
spelling words, sight words, basic math facts, writing and
reading skills. Spelling Words--Spelling
words are taken from the literature in the reading series.
The lists include three sight words in each group of ten
words. Pretests are given in spelling on each Monday and
final tests given each Friday
Sight Words--Sight words are words that
must be read by memory not sounded out. 20 words will be given
each week and tested the following week until all 219 words
are mastered Homework Calendar--The first graders
are responsible for completing a monthy homework calendar. |
