Sacred Heart Students Achieve the
Standard of Excellence in Mathematics
Last spring State Math Assessments were
given to students in fourth and seventh grades. State Reading
Assessments were administered to students in the fifth and
eighth grades. Based on their performance, each student was
placed into one of five achievement categories (Unsatisfactory,
Basic, Proficient, Advanced, and Exemplary) as determined
by the state. As a class, both the fourth and seventh grades
achieved the Standard of Excellence in math by meeting the
required minimum number of students in the Exemplary, Advanced
and Proficient categories and by being below the maximum percentage
of students allowed in the Basic and Unsatisfactory categories.
Fifty percent of all seventh graders scored in the Exemplary
category and 14% scored in the Advanced category while the
fourth graders placed 38% in the Advanced category and 33%
in the Exemplary category. Kansas State assessment information
was published in last week's Neighborhood News section of
the Kansas City Star. Sacred Heart's information was listed
in the Wyandotte County edition but has been compiled below
for comparison to our local school districts and to other
Johnson County Catholic schools. The numbers shown below represent
the percentage of students whose scores were Proficient, Advanced,
or Exemplary.
