Sacred Heart Successful
at Greater KC Science and Engineering Fair
Congratulations to the scientists of Sacred
Heart School! Four projects were entered in the Greater Kansas
City Science and Engineering Fair on March 30 – April
3, 2005. John C. entered a project titled “Turbidity
of the Kansas River.” He was selected as the 6th grade
winner and placed fourth overall in the junior division. He
was asked to display his project at Lyndall Hall Library.
Hannah P. received a Blue Ribbon for her project “Determining
the Power Characteristics of a Wind Turbine.” She received
a $75 special award from the Western Chapter of the Missouri
Society of Professional Engineers Auxiliary. The fourth grade
class had two entries. Cynnamon D. and Kennedy R. received
a Yellow Ribbon for their project titled “Play Dough”
and Emily T. and Courtney G. submitted an experiment titled
“Egg-cell-ent” which received a Blue Ribbon. All
the scientists had a great time and can’t wait until
next year's contest. This is the second successful year for
students from Sacred Heart at the GKCS&EF. Hopefully we
can send fifteen projects next year.
